Cook County COVID-19 Recovery Resident Cash Assistance Program

The Cook County COVID-19 Recovery Resident Cash Assistance Program offers a one-time cash payment of $600 to income eligible suburban Cook County residents who have been negatively impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. To be eligible for cash assistance through the Cook County COVID-19 Recovery Resident Cash Assistance Program, you must reside in suburban Cook County, IL (residents in the City of Chicago are not eligible for this fund), meet income requirements based on household income prior to March 1, 2020, and have a negative financial impact during the COVID-19 pandemic due to job or wage losses, unpaid leave to care for vulnerable or infected relatives, unpaid sick leave, or loss of wages due to school closures. See income thresholds here.

You will need the following documents to apply:

  • One form of government issued identification that includes your current residential address or two alternative forms of identification.

  • Proof of your COVID-19 hardship due to unpaid leave, care for vulnerable or infected relatives, or loss of wages due to business or school closures. See acceptable documents here.

  • Proof of household income prior to March 1, 2020 meeting eligibility requirements.

  • Bank information including account and routing number if you choose to direct deposit. You can typically find this on a check.

Note - Completing the application does not guarantee that you will receive money. Cook County Employees and their household members are ineligible to apply and receive funds. 

Family Independence Initiative (FII) may partner with external researchers to study information provided by the applicants for research purposes. FII or a partner research institution may reach out to applicants and invite them to participate in one or more surveys to gather additional data related to this program and its participants.
